HypnoBirthing (Mongan method) is a set of antenatal childbirth education classes comprising of breathing, relaxation and muscle techniques, self-hypnosis for labour, explanation of how your body, mind and baby work together in labour to avoid fear, tension and thus pain, birthing positions, different stages of labour and birth positions, how to avoid induction and episiotomies. The course is fully designed to help you and your birth partner prepare mentally, physically and psycologically for an easier, safer and more comfortable birth – whether its your first or your sixth baby.

Naturally this makes women fearful of giving birth.

*The word hypnosis or being in an hypnotic state is often misconstrued.  In essence it means being in a “dream like” state – similar to day dreaming, reading a book, being engrossed in a film.  You are still fully aware of your surroundings and in total control but you are fully relaxed.  Because you remain in control at all times, you cannot be made to do anything whilst in a state of hypnosis that you do not agree to.
